"Inspired by Dr. Templer Grandin’s quote, 'Different, not less', I believe that sincerity and compassion are important values in making a difference in the special education field. Through my years as a behavioural therapist, I have assisted and trained more than 20 children in areas such as self-help (personal hygiene and mealtime), verbal commands (greetings and requests) as well as school readiness and physical activities.
My most memorable accomplishments during therapy is when a client of mine progress from uttering only ABCs to using more vocabulary in his speech. It made me felt even more accomplished as a therapist when the same client showed progress by being more responsive to verbal commands and gestures. After being in therapy with me for 3 months, he managed to improve his social skills by using simple words to express himself to other people in different situations.
I have been a therapist to ASD children ranging from low, medium to high functioning Autism level. Professionalism, patience and compassion are the core values I hold on to during my therapy sessions. Through my work, I gain the sense of fulfilment whenever my students show progress. Hence I would love to be a part of your child’s progressive journey and show you how he/she is truly an Auesome kid.
